Along with several other code changes that Montana adopted earlier last year, one of them is the dreaded 5 year load tests. Why are these tests so bad? Well, they are meant to test your equipment to the fullest, sometime meaning pushing them a bit further than they like, especially on some of the older equipment.

These tests are meant to test overspeed devices (ie. Governors, Crash Valves, etc.), buffers (If your elevator is equipped) and several other devices. Although they are a bit daunting, they are a necessary requirement to ensure the safety of your riders.

While this is new to most Elevator Companies in Montana, the Mechanics at Tech 3 Elevators are trained to not only perform the tests, but we can also help you through any issues that might occur during and any repair that might need to be done after. Along with that, most Montana Elevator Companies are charging a separate fee for the test (often times in the thousands of dollars), but we include both Annual and Five Year State tests in all of our Maintenance Contracts of 1 year or more.

Have any questions about the required State tests? Feel free to ask, we’re here to help!
